SSP Scholarship at a glance

The State Scholarship Portal (SSP) is the Government of Karnataka’s official website for student scholarships, at ssp.karnataka.gov.in. SSP is a single portal that hosts many scholarship schemes run by different state welfare departments — it is not one scholarship on its own. Students apply for pre-matric scholarships (Class 1 to 10) and post-matric scholarships (college and higher studies) through the same portal. It supports students from SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and other eligible groups who are permanent residents of Karnataka. Approved money is paid straight into the student’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

How to check your SSP scholarship status and payment

You can check your SSP scholarship status in two ways, based on your level. School (pre-matric) students can check with only their 9-digit SATS ID — no password needed. College (post-matric) students log in with their SSP ID and password. Both methods show your approval stage and payment details for the year you select.

Pre-Matric students (Class 1 to 10): check without a password

1. Go to ssp.karnataka.gov.in.
2. Open the Student Status Report link on the homepage.
3. Enter your 9-digit SATS ID. It is on your report card, or ask your class teacher.
4. Select the financial year, for example 2026-27.
5. Click Search to see your status and payment details.

Post-Matric students (college): check after login

• Go to ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in and click Student Login.

• Enter your SSP ID and password, then type the security code.
• Open Year Wise Student Status.
• Choose the academic year and click View.
• Check the Maintenance Amount (paid to your bank) and Fee Reimbursement (paid to your college).

What your SSP status means

• Verification pending — your application is waiting for approval at the College, Taluk, or District level.
• Sanctioned — the government has approved your scholarship and confirmed the amount.
• Aadhaar Seeding Status — shows whether your Aadhaar is linked to your bank account, which is required before any payment.
• Pushed to DBT — your approved amount has been sent to the payment system for transfer.
• DBT Ref Number — the transaction reference for that payment.
• Paid — the money has been credited to your bank account.
• Reason Sent by DBT — if a payment failed, this explains why, such as “Account Closed.”

Soon after you apply, a “pending” stage is normal — verification can take a few weeks to move between levels during peak season. If your status says Sanctioned or Paid but the amount has not reached your account, the cause is almost always a problem with Aadhaar-to-bank linking (NPCI seeding). How to log in to the SSP portal and recover your account

The portal has two separate login pages. Post-matric (college) students sign in at ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/post_sa/signin.aspx. Pre-matric (school) students sign in at ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/ssppre/. On either page, enter your SSP ID, password, and the security code, then click Log In.

Forgot your password or SSP ID?

• Forgot password: click Forgot Password? and reset it using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
• Forgot your SSP ID: use the Know SSP ID option to retrieve it.

If the OTP or security code will not work

If your registered mobile number has changed, the reset OTP cannot reach you — visit your school or college scholarship section and ask them to update it, since it is tied to your student record. If the security code keeps failing, refresh it and check for a stray space. Clearing your browser cache or switching browsers fixes most sign-in errors.

SSP scholarship last date for 2026-27

The SSP scholarship has no single last date. Each welfare department sets its own deadline, and the dates change every cycle. For 2026-27, applications are open now, most pre-matric and several post-matric schemes close on 30 September 2026, and the Social Welfare Department keeps its post-matric window open until 31 January 2027.

Last verified: 18 September 2026. Deadlines are sometimes extended, so confirm your department’s date on ssp.karnataka.gov.in before you apply — not after it has passed. For a direct answer, call the SSP helpline on 1902. Missing your department’s date means missing the scholarship for that year, as there is no late window.

Pre-Matric or Post-Matric—which one applies to you

Your education level decides which SSP scholarship you apply for. Pre-matric scholarships (ಮೆಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಪೂರ್ವ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನ) are for school students in Class 1 to 10. Post-matric scholarships (ಮೆಟ್ರಿಕ್ ನಂತರದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನ) are for students in PUC, diploma, degree, and higher courses. The two use different IDs and different login pages.

Moving from Class 10 to PUC? Apply fresh

If you are entering PUC or a diploma after Class 10, apply as a new post-matric applicant. Your pre-matric record and SATS ID history do not carry over into the post-matric portal. Treat your first PUC or diploma year as a fresh application, not a renewal, even if you received a pre-matric scholarship every year before.

How to apply for the SSP scholarship

Post-matric applications are made at ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in. Complete these steps in order, because two of them must be done before you start the form.

1. One Time Registration on NSP. SC, ST, OBC, and minority students first complete a One Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal to get an NSP ID.
2. Register on KUTUMBA. Registration in the KUTUMBA portal is mandatory to apply on SSP; your Kutumba ID links your family’s income, caste, and residence data.
3. Seed your bank account. Make sure your bank account is linked to Aadhaar and NPCI-seeded now — this is what lets DBT pay you later.
4. Create your account. At ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/CA/, enter your Aadhaar number and a mobile OTP to generate your account and SSP ID.
5. Fill the form. Select your college, course, and category. Enter the RD Number of your caste and income certificates; the portal verifies them against the Nadakacheri database, and if the RD Number matches you do not need to upload paper scans.
6. Finish e-KYC and e-attestation. Complete Aadhaar e-KYC, then e-attestation at eattestation.ssp.karnataka.gov.in.
7. Submit and print. Submit the form and print the acknowledgement slip for your records.

Fresh application or renewal?

Renewal is never automatic. You must log in and renew each academic year — usually in the October–November window — and upload your fresh marks card and updated certificates. A student can hold only one SSP scholarship in a year, either pre-matric or post-matric, not both.

SSP scholarship eligibility and income limits

To qualify, you must be a permanent resident of Karnataka, study in a recognised institution in the state, and have been promoted to your current year — students who were detained or discontinued are not eligible for most schemes. Your category and family income then decide which department’s scheme fits you.

Income limits are set per department and category, so use these as a guide and confirm your scheme’s exact figure before applying:

• SC, ST, and Category-1 students: family income up to ₹2.5 lakh per year.
• OBC categories 2A, 3A, 3B: family income up to ₹1 lakh per year.
• Minority students: up to ₹2 lakh for PMS courses and up to ₹2.5 lakh for MCM courses.
• Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board: up to ₹8 lakh per year.

Some schemes also ask for minimum marks in your previous exam, often between 50% and 60% depending on category. You likely qualify if you live in Karnataka, belong to one of the categories above, study in a recognised institution, and your family income is within your scheme’s limit. Confirm the exact income ceiling and marks rule in your department’s current notification, since these are revised from time to time.

SSP scholarship amount 2026-27

The SSP scholarship pays in two parts. The maintenance allowance goes to the student’s bank account for living costs. The fee reimbursement goes to the institution against your tuition. How much you receive depends on your category, course level, and whether you are a day scholar or a hosteller.

As a general guide from recent years, pending confirmation on the official notification:

• Pre-matric scholarships are modest, in the range of about ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per year.
• Post-matric SC/ST students with family income up to ₹2.5 lakh receive full fee reimbursement, while those between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹10 lakh receive around a 50% fee waiver.
• Professional courses such as engineering and medicine attract higher reimbursement, above ₹1,00,000 for eligible SC/ST students.

Exact amounts are set by each department and revised periodically. Treat the figures above as recent ranges, not a promise, and confirm the current year’s amount for your specific course and category on ssp.karnataka.gov.in before you rely on it.

Departments and schemes on the SSP portal

SSP is a single portal that carries scholarships from many Karnataka welfare departments. Knowing which department owns your scheme tells you which deadline and income rule applies to you.

• Social Welfare Department — for Scheduled Caste (SC) students.
• Tribal Welfare Department — for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students.
• Backward Classes Welfare Department — for OBC and Category-1 students; runs schemes such as fee reimbursement and the Vidyasiri hostel and food support.
• Department of Minorities Welfare — for minority-community students.
• Disability Welfare Department — for differently-abled students.
• Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board — for eligible Brahmin-community students.

The portal brings together schemes from many departments in one place, and each department can list several schemes. Before you apply, confirm your exact scheme name and its owning department on the official portal, since names are easy to mix up.

Documents required for the SSP scholarship

Keep these ready before you start, as a missing or unclear document is the most common reason applications stall:

• Aadhaar card, linked to a bank account that is NPCI-seeded for DBT.
• Caste certificate and income certificate, each carrying a valid RD Number — certificates without an RD Number are auto-rejected by the portal, which is a genuine change students miss.
• Previous year’s marks card, for renewals and merit-based schemes.
• SATS ID (school students) or college admission number.
• Kutumba ID and, for SC/ST/OBC students, your NSP OTR ID.
• Bank passbook and, where asked, a bonafide certificate and fee receipt.

Scan documents as PDF or JPEG within the portal’s file-size limit, and keep them legible — blurred scans and name mismatches cause rejections.

Common SSP problems and how to fix them

These are the issues students run into most, with what causes each and what to do next.

“Approved by DDO: No.” Your application has cleared earlier levels but the Drawing and Disbursing Officer has not signed off yet. This is often a timing stage during peak season. Follow up with your college scholarship section, who coordinate with the officer.

Status shows Paid or Pushed to DBT, but no money arrived. Almost always an Aadhaar-to-bank (NPCI) seeding problem. Check that your Aadhaar is seeded with the bank account you want paid, on the NPCI mapper or with your bank, then have it corrected at the branch.

“Account Closed” or “Success but no credit.” The target account is inactive or wrongly seeded. Open or activate a working account, seed it with Aadhaar and NPCI, and update it in your SSP profile so the next payment cycle can reach you.

KYC or document pending. Your e-KYC or a certificate is not yet verified. Complete Aadhaar e-KYC, and make sure your caste and income certificates carry valid RD Numbers so the portal can auto-verify them.

Previous-year marks not updated by the college. The portal shows a marks mismatch because your institution has not uploaded your result. Ask your college to update your marks in their SSP login; you cannot fix this from your side.

Rejected for document mismatch. Read the remarks column for the exact reason, correct the detail — usually a name, category, or certificate error — and re-submit if the portal still allows it, or ask your verifying officer to return the application for correction.
